Front Description
This real glass cloisonné pin is a prototype of a pin in that was never produced for public release by the Disney Gallery back in the 1990s. Maleficent is shown from her upper chest up to the middle of her horns. She is facing right glancing at, or perhaps talking to, Diablo who is perched on her left hand and who has turned his head around to look back at her. This pin was originally designed to be part of at least a four pin series of female villains, but only Pin 9455 actually had a production run. The other three pins: this one, Pin 48415 and Pin 48543 never made it past the prototype stage. Except for the character featured on the front, this pin is identical to the other two prototypes in the following manner: 1) Round, 1.75 inches in diameter. 2) The very dark silver finish on the rim extends a bit onto the face of the pin. 3) There is a pendant loop center top of the back above the brooch-back. 4) The copyright information is located in the lower portion of the center back of the pin and consists of a small box lower center back containing three lines... the BRENDA WHILE collection ... and underneath the box, these two lines... © Disney Made in China This pin is based on the original artwork of Brenda White, "Maleficent and Diablo", Hand-painted Charger, Edition of thirty-five, January 1990. It was acquired from The Artist herself who retained control of the prototypes.
