The porthole of Captain Nemo’s submarine is shown in this pin as seen in Walt Disney’s motion picture 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas (1954), found in Pin 28882 (Disney Catalog - 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea 50th Anniversary Boxed Pin Set). The motion picture, celebrating its golden anniversary, is based on the Jules Verne’s novel of the same title which chronicles the adventures of Captain Nemo and the crew of the Nautilus. About an 1 ¼ inches in diameter, the porthole is circular in nature. The pin is enamel with bronze / brass colored outer ring and braces. The inner circle is ocean deep blue with the outline of the sea monster, kraken or giant squid in black shadowy profile. The pin surface is smooth and feels like a thick epoxy like coating.
