Front Description
This pin is from June 28, 1988, the press day for the opening of the Grand Floridian Hotel Beach Resort (The Resort was not opened to the general public until July 1, 1988). The pin shows the hotel/resort from a water persective. The top portion of an exaggerated sun is rising behind the hotel. The property opened on June 28, 1988 as the Grand Floridian Beach Resort. The name changed to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa during the fall of 1997. The pin may have been given out at a later event, but it wouldn't have been an official release because the name would have been wrong. This pin was given out at the Press Event on opening day in 1988, and also worn on the Uniforms of Cast Members. This pin is Cast, Limited Edition and does contain a small © Disney on the back. This pin has an epoxy finish on the front and a gold, brassy-type finish on the back (not waffle). This pin was given out recently at an auction. It commemorates the opening of the Grand Floridian and says "Grand New World". The diameter of this pin is about an inch.
