Front Description

Round cream colored pin with a thin gold rim. The pin has Disneyland Hotel. Monorail Cafe. THE END OF AN ERA 1955-1999 with a 1950's drawing of a monorail in motion passing over the top of a pink crescent/painter's palet shaped 'building". The Monorail Cafe was closed for good when the Disneyland Hotel renovated. This pin commemorates the cafe. It has a neat retro looking pink and blue design with "Disneyland Hotel" written on the top, a monorail in the center and "The end of an Era 1955-1999" on the bottom. 1 & 1/4" dimater. This is a very thin disk like pin. Another sorely missed and beloved sight from the Disneyland Hotel's history is the Monorail Cafe. Originally, this restaurant was known as the Coffee Shop from 1956 until 1986. Bonita Granville-Wrather changed the name and re-themed the restaurant just two years before Disney negotiated the acquisition of the Disneyland Hotel. A favorite spot for just about everybody, the Monorail Cafe featured sandwiches, burgers, salads, chicken and the best milkshakes in town. It was a great place to relax and get a mid-day meal after having walked for miles at the Park. The waitresses were friendly, the prices were reasonable and the decor was priceless. The walls featured vintage Monorail pictures of Walt Disney and his vision of the transportation for the future.
