This pin was available from the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society and commemorates the 50th anniversary of the "steam up" of the first Disneyland train, the E. P. Ripley. Design shows a black and white photo of young Michael Broggie and Walt Disney aboard the E.P. Ripley cab in 1955. Above the picture is a pale green banner reading "ENGINEER WALT DISNEY". Below the picture is another pale green banner reading "FIREMAN MICHAEL BROGGIE JUNE 18, 1955". Silver based pin measures 1 3/8" W x 2" H and is backstamped: First Run Disneyland Railroad Disneyland 50th Anniversary Limited Edition 1955 © Disney Family Foundation China On June 18, 1955, "Engineer" Walt asked Michael (then one day shy of his 13th birthday), to ride along with him on that historic first run as his "Fireman". In train talk, a "Fireman" manages the output of steam by feeding coal to the fire box and water to the boiler. Michael is the son of Roger Broggie, head of the machine shop at Walt Disney Studios and in charge of building the first 2 trains for the park. Both are former Disney Cast Members with windows on Main Street USA, and Roger is also a Disney Legend. Carolwood Pacific Historical Society's mission is to preserve Walt Disney's railroad legacy.
