Front Description

A classic Minnie head is shown facing left on this ceremic hand-painted pin. It is one of a duo of 1 1/4" faces shown in profile; (#95211) Mickey is the other. The white-face Minnie has fully black eyes with black eyelashes, smile with slightly opened red mouth, and light pink bow. Size is going to vary depending on the ceramic casting. It is 1 1/4" (31 mm) wide and just under 1 1/8" (29 mm) tall. It has a glued-on back, but unknown if post back or straight back. There is no signature on the back, but many of the pins in this series have small stickers attached which read "© WALT DISNEY PROD." Roz Simon and Wendy Niven were designers and owners of Flights of Fancy - a West Coast ceramic jewelry company (circa late 1970's to early 1990's). The Disney pin series was produced in the early 1980's. Pins were licensed by Disney and sold in department stores such as Bloomingdales and Macy's, as well as various boutiques, gift stores, etc. They were also sold internationally (Japan, in particular). Flights of Fancy jewelry gained fame from taking popular items - from boxes of crayons, Chiclets Chewing Gum boxes, tape dispensers, and other whimsical subjects - and creating colorful ceramic pins. Some were brooch-style and others had a single post back.
